Hi readers! My name is Emily and I am the writer of Embellished Nails located at www.emilysnails.com. A few weeks ago, Lisa wrote to me and asked me to do a guest blog for her. I was overjoyed! This is my first time guest blogging.
At the moment, my own blog is semi-inactive due to my very busy schedule. I still paint my nails all the time- I can just never find the time to post my manicures. I’m student teaching in a preschool classroom, which takes up a ton of my time both in school and out of school!
Today I’m showing you a manicure I did especially for this post! I wanted to do something summery… I live in New England and I am SO OVER the winter! I hate being cold and I hate wearing layers… therefore Massachusetts is not the state for me. I usually enjoy wearing dark, vampy shades during this time of year but I’ve been totally rebelling against that unwritten rule, wearing bright shades nearly daily. I guess this is my body’s way of inconspicuously rejecting the cold…
One of my favorite manicures to do is the “gradient.” Gradient manicures are a fun and easy way to make your nails stand out. For those of you that have never tried a gradient manicure, what are you waiting for?! It’s super easy. I follow this tutorial by The Nailasaurus. Normally my manicures never come out like the tutorial shows, but this is one that actually successfully follows through!
I started by using two coats of OPI You’re Such A Budapest as my base (that’s the light purple). Then, using a triangular makeup sponge, I used Funky Fingers Cheshire and the same purple OPI to sponge on my gradient. I had to sponge on the gradient twice because it wasn’t dark enough the first time around. On my accent finger, I used a coat of China Glaze Luxe and Lush.
Have you ever tried a gradient manicure? Which color combinations are your favorite!? I’m always looking for new ways to wear this mani.
A big thanks goes out to Lisa for hosting my guest post! I love your blog and am honored to be able to share one of my manicures with your readers!
Until next time,
Emily
